Introduce unit 6 thematic focus: Pop Culture; New York Times pop culture articles;

 REHUGO Project (This would take place over the course of the unit rather than be assigned as an in class assignment.)

 REHUGO is an acronym for students to use when writing effective commentary in order to draw from outside resources.  (Reading/Entertainment/History/Universal Concepts or Truths/Government and Current Events/Observations and Personal Experience)

Research Paper

 The student will choose a topic (research current social issues) and will have an assignment for each letter of the acronym that relates to that topic.
