Students evaluate the early impact of the Industrial Revolution, with emphasis on laissez-faire capitalism, the growth of cities, economic leaders (i.e., Carnegie, Rockefeller) and the economic, social, and businesses practices of the Gilded Age. Students evaluate the impact of early 20th century immigration on American society, with emphasis on shifting demographics of immigrants, Ellis Island, political machines, and the Chinese Exclusion Act of 1882 and Emergency Quota Act of 1921.
