Students explain how the Enlightenment challenged the ideas of absolutism, with emphasis on Enlightenment thinkers (i.e., Hobbes, Locke, Rousseau) and their influence on America's founding documents. Students describe important individuals and events in the development of the rights of Englishmen, with emphasis on Oliver Cromwell, the Glorious Revolution, and the English Bill of Rights of 1689.
