Students should be able to analyze a sequence of rocks in terms of types, textures, composition, fossils, structural and weathering features to infer the history of the sequence over time.
Students should be able to using a geologic history diagram (cross section) sequence the order of events from oldest to youngest and identify cross-cutting relationships.
Students should be able to use index fossils to infer the geologic history of a complex cross section.
