December Week 1
Students should be able to identify and give examples of common forms of energy; recognize examples of energy causing change and differentiate between kinetic and potential energy.
Plan/conduct observational and/or experimental investigations related to transformations of kinetic and potential energy; Generate/analyze/interpret data in tables/graphs/charts/diagrams and/or other displays to compare relative amounts of potential
Construct and use models to show that different amounts of potential energy are stored in the system when the arrangement of objects interacting at a distance changes
Plan and conduct experimental and/or observational investigations to provide evidence that energy can be transferred and transformed between its different forms
Identify the energy transformations that occur when energy is used to run a device in the home or school; identify the energy transformations that occur between radiant energy in sunlight and the food we eat
